Sharon Sue (Wood) Girard of Port St. Lucie passed away on August 6, 2024, at the age of 81 after a long battle with dementia.
Sharon was born July 25, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois. She lived there until moving to Bristol, Indiana, and then to Port St. Lucie, Florida where she lived for the last 45 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 64 years, David C. Girard, her sons Jeffrey (his wife Charlotte) and Caleb, daughter Stephanie Morris (her husband Philip) all of Florida. Also, her four grandchildren, three step grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. And lastly her faithful dog and companion Chaos that was always by her side.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Frances Wood, brother Harold "Butch" Wood, and her oldest son David Gregory Girard.
Sharon was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom most of her life. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching TV, especially her favorite Blue Bloods. David would give her a teddy bear for almost every special occasion, so she had a superior collection. And she donated to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to help save the polar bears.
Although dementia is a terrible disease that robbed her mind, she fought a good fight to the very end.
The family has decided to forego any services and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Treasure Coast Hospice or the WWF in her memory.
