Sharon was born on November 29, 1943, in Independence, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Taylor) Lanning. She was united in marriage to William Greer he passed away in 2008.
Survivors include: one son, Jeffery Coon of Henrietta; one daughter, Angela (Robert) Curtis of Richmond; two step sons, Jeffery (Sue) Greer of Texas and Ronald (Crystal) of Independence; six grandchildren, Joseph Byrd, Natasha Wroblewski, Richard, Curtis II, Nathaniel Curtis, Rhiana Aliff, and Adom Hammontree; four step grandchildren, Morgan Mead, Owen Greer, Clint Worley, and Connor Greer; nine great grandchildren, Joseph Byrd, Jr., Faidyn Teegarden, Foster Wroblewski, Ava-Keli Wroblewski, Atlas Kinnard, Richard Curtis III, Sylas Curtis, Ezekiel Curtis, and Zayvier Curtis; two brothers, Lawrence "Larry" (Nancy) Lanning and Charles "Petey" (Jennifer) Jackson; one sister, Andrea (Lanning) Jones; two sisters in law, Judy Zilliox and Donna Jean Swindler; and one brother in law, Lucky Greer. She is also survived by her precious kitty "YoYo".
She was preceded in death by husband, mother, father, and stepdad, Floyd "Pete" Jackson.
Sharon was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family. She had a passion for life's simple pleasures, whether it was watching movies, finding treasures while thrifting, shopping, sewing, or working on puzzles. She loved to travel, bake, and had a sweet spot for chocolate. Sharon also enjoyed fishing trips with her late husband and trying her luck at the casino. Throughout her career, she proudly served fifteen years with Allied Insurance Company, five years with ABIA Insurance, and nine years with The Salvation Army.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or St Jude Children's Research Foundation Hospital. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
A celebration of Sharons life will be announced by the family at a later date.
