Sharon Harper Obituary

She was born on April 19, 1947, in Madisonville to the late Willie Hazel Coffman DeMoss and Hiram Taylor DeMoss. Sharon was formerly a CNA at the Hopkins County Hospital and Kentucky Rest Haven. When she moved to Virginia, she took the position as manager over the Harrisonburg Salvation Army and was also the manager of the Charlottesville Salvation Army. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Sharon loved reading her Bible, cooking and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Harper; brother, Hiram Glen DeMoss; and her sisters, Patricia Ann DeMoss and Rebecca Gail DeMoss.
Survivors include her son, Will (Erin) Harper of Madisonville; daughters, Celestine Harper of Madisonville and Hope (Steve) Dowdy of Bardwell, KY; sister, Karen Sue (Ricky) LeGrand of Earlington, KY; grandchildren, Virginia (Terrell) Williams, Isaac Dowdy, Steven Dowdy, Elle Harper, Macy Harper and Ava Harper; and several nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held at Hanson Cemetery on Monday, September 29, 2025 in Hanson, KY, with Beverly DeMoss Freund giving her eulogy. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of the arrangements.
