Sharon Kaye Hatch, age 86, of Whitten, Iowa, passed away early on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown surrounded by her family.

Services for Sharon will take place on Monday, March 9th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. She will be laid to rest at Badger Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, beginning at 1:00 p.m. For questions or condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Born Sharon Kaye Harms on May 5, 1939 at St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown, she was the only daughter of Harry and Mary (Barger) Harms. She grew up in Gladbrook, Iowa, graduating from Gladbrook High School. Sharon was united in marriage to Gordon L. Hatch on March 18, 1960 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During his time in the service, they lived together in Germany for two years. Upon their return, they made their home in Gladbrook, where they raised their family. They were married 29 years before Gordon’s passing. Sharon was also blessed to find companionship for 22 years with William “Bill” Lott, residing in Whitten. Sharon dedicated 25 years in soybean research at DeKalb/Monsanto before retiring.

Sharon was a member of the Liscomb American Legion Auxiliary and President for 14 years, Lions Club member, the Vienna Township Women’s Club, Hardin County Historical Society, volunteer at the Iowa Veterans Home for several years, Marshall County Mid-Iowa Antique Power Club, Master Gardener at Reiman Gardens in Ames, Iowa Lily Association and was a member of the Eastern Star. Sharon enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidering and cooking. She also enjoyed watching Iowa State sports and above all else, cherished the time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Joy (Brett) McLain of Ames and Dan (Kori) Hatch of Dysart; daughter-in-law Shelleen Hatch of Gladbrook; her grandchildren: Shelton (Mitchell) Hoefling, Kerrigan Hatch, Ashley (Ben) Boydstun, Brittany (Joel) Williams, Tanner (Daisy) Hatch, Mackenna (Camden) Ewing, and Alyssa Hatch; along with 7 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband Gordon, her son Kenneth Hatch, significant other Bill Lott, mom and stepfather Mary and Gilbert Dahms, brother Carlton Harms, father Harry Harms and half-sister Teresa Dahms-Rhoden.
