Emily Proffitt, age 35, of St. Anthony, Iowa, formerly of Marshalltown passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Emily Christeen Proffitt, age 35, of St. Anthony, Iowa, passed away on February 27, 2026. She was born on November 27, 1990, to her parents, James Proffitt and Michelle Easton, who loved her deeply from the beginning.

Emily’s true compassion and dedication was to babysit. She would often call parents to see if she could have their kids and watch for free. She also had the opportunity to work at Central Iowa Residential Services, Inc. (C.I.R.S.I.) in Marshalltown for a short while. Her compassion, patience, and steady kindness made a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals she supported, and she was cherished by coworkers and clients alike.

In her free time, Emily found joy in the simple, comforting things she loved most. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, coloring books, bingo, singing, crafts, card games, and dice. Whether she was laughing over a game, humming a tune, or creating something with her hands, Emily brought warmth and light to every room she entered.

Emily is survived by her mother, Michelle Easton & her bonus stepdad Wayne Easton; her brother, Chris Proffitt & his son Lucas; bonus stepbrothers: Jesse (Brittany) Easton and their children Emmett & Kinsley, and Jake (Brandy) Easton; her grandparents, Reta & Lennie Greene; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, & bonus uncles.

She is preceded in death by her father James Proffitt, her grandparents: Robert & Clara Proffitt, great grandparents: Deloris & Lewis Thompson and Doris & Orval Cullor; her grandfather Mel Owen, and her uncles: Steve Proffitt, Dudley Krier, and Ray Foster.

She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her easy smile, and the way she made others feel cared for and included. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home of Marshalltown. Emily’s funeral service has been scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2026, starting at 11:00 A.M., also at the funeral home. Her family encourages everyone to dress in casual attire for her services.
