Sharon Lydia Haywood was born on December 18, 1952 in Kings
County Hospital Brooklyn, New York to
the late Florine Haywood and Frank Edward Haywood Sr. She was the first born of 6 sisters and 1
brother. She had 3 sisters that preceded her in death: Renee Harley, Anita Townes and Terri
Haywood. Sharon was raised in the Brownsville
section of Brooklyn, where she attended St. Michaels Church as a child and young adult. From a tender age, Sharon had a passion for
The Arts. And what an amazing artist she
was. She shared her love of music with her younger siblings and anyone who would listen. Her second soprano voice was
like hearing the voice of an angel. And she
show-cased her voice as a lead singer in The Children of God Inspirational Ensemble Gospel Choir. Sharon was also a
self-taught pianist and a very talented songwriter.
She formed singing groups over the years where she composed and sang for several large audiences. Sharon's early
education included attending school in the New York City Public School System.
Sharon was an exceptional
student who excelled in all areas. She graduated
from James Madison High School at the top her class. Sharon also studied at Medger Evers College where she majored in
Art. She graduated and went on to attend
Adelphi University to pursue academics in Education and Psychology. While attending the University, Sharon was placed on
the National Dean's list for 4 consecutive
years. She was an extremely intelligent woman who obtained her Master's degree in Education and Special
Education. She pursued a career in teaching
at the New York City Board of Education. She absolutely loved teaching.
She had a passion for sharing her knowledge
and uplifting her students. Sharon's career
in teaching started in 1984. She was loved by all of her students whom she treasured and held dear to her heart. Sharon, with her brains, beauty and style, met
and married the love of her life, her dedicated
husband, Michael Caldron on April 6, 1991. The two of them lived in Brooklyn for over 30 years and raised their
beautiful family there. She continued her love for singing, writing music and playing
the piano. Her talent remained impeccable.
Sharon loved her family very much and would do anything for her children and grandchildren.
Sharon relocated to Kennesaw, Georgia in 2018
after retiring from 34 triumphant years
of teaching, encouraging and touching the lives of many students. Sharon succumbed to a fierce battle with her
illnesses on August 4, 2024. Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her dear,
devoted husband, Michael Caldron; her
eldest daughter, Tamisia Smith (Terrell); her only son, Arteak Smith (Tamara); and her youngest daughter, Misha Caldron; her
grandchildren: Lashae, Ghamal, Wendy,
Kaila, Kimora, Arteak Jr., Dakari and Damir; and her bonus daughters: Keisha Cooper and Michelle Caldron and their
children: Jalen, Savannah and Dakota.
She will be greatly missed by her two sisters: Francine Haywood and Carolyn Haywood both of Douglasville Georgia; her only
brother, Frank Haywood Jr. (Schneka) of
Atlanta Georgia; her brother-in-law, Joseph Caldron of Staten Island, New York; her two sisters-in-law: Rose
Creighton of New York City and Maria Holmes
of Kennesaw, Georgia; as well as many students, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, countless other special family
members and friends near and far.
