Sharon Leigh Wallace Hendrix, 69, passed away Sunday, September 7th, 2025 in Oxford, MS after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born to James Leo and Norma Jean Wallace on June 26th, 1956 in
New Albany, MS. She grew up in the Pinedale community and graduated from West Union Attendance Center in 1974. She continued her education at Northeast Mississippi Community College concentrating in Mathematics and Accounting. She graduated from The University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy in 1978. Sharon began her financial career at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, followed by 7 years at Baptist Health System in Birmingham, AL. After moving to Olive Branch, MS and working for The University of Memphis for 12 years, she was recruited to work at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, retiring after 24 years as Vice President – Controller. She met her husband, Terry Hendrix, of
New Albany, MS, while attending Northeast Mississippi Community College. They were married at Salem United Methodist Church in 1978 and enjoyed 46 years together. She was a loving mother to two children, Grant and Emily. Over the years they enjoyed numerous trips to most parts of the United States, especially the national parks. Additionally, the family spent time cheering for Ole Miss at football and basketball games, as she was an avid fan. After retiring, Sharon volunteered with Baptist Hospice, writing letters of comfort. Sharon professed her faith in the Lord at age 7 during a revival at Salem. Her daily life was a testament to her joy and trust in her Savior. She was a long-time member of Mineral Wells United Methodist Church and most recently attended Oxford University United Methodist, making many cherished friends at both. Survivors include her husband, Terry Hendrix of Oxford; her two children, Grant Hendrix of Olive Branch and Emily Hendrix Gable (Charles) of Denver, CO; and her only sibling, Kathryn Wallace Henderson of Etta. Her surviving nieces and nephews include: Michelle Adams (George), Timbo Henderson (Ashley), Jaime Collier (Jason), Aaron Bailey, Brent Hendrix (Ashley), Brandon Hendrix (Alyssa), Sam Hendrix, Peyton Chinn (Julian) and Averi Hendrix. Her surviving in-laws are Robert Hendrix, Cheryl Bailey, and Dale Hendrix (Lisa). She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Norma Jean Wallace; her grandparents, Virgil and Rudell Wallace, and Edward and Buna Lessel; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Ada Hendrix; her brothers-in-law, Danny Henderson and Marshall Bailey; and her nephew, John Bailey. A service to celebrate Sharon's life will be Thursday, September 11th at 1p.m. at Salem Church, 1521 State Road 355, Etta, MS with Rev. Bryan Collier officiating. Visitation will be from 4p.m. until 7p.m on Wednesday, September 10th at United Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Tommy Wallace, Dale Hendrix, Jason Collier, Timbo Henderson, Parker Owen, Mark Gable, Bill Gray, Mike Nabors, and Ben Larsen. Honorary Pallbearers include Carlton Wallace, Donny Jumper, Larry Neal, Henry Moorehead, Sid Ayres, Mike Wall, and Andy Miller. Memorials may be made to Zoe Ministries, P.O.
