MECCA-Sharon Yoland Hill, 88, of Mecca, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indiana. Sharon was born on January 23, 1937, to the late Frank Ross Ball and Margaret Madeline Rich Ball. On May 21, 1955, she married the love of her life, James Lee Hill, in Rockville. They shared 69 wonderful years together. She graduated early from Bloomingdale High School in 1954 after skipping a grade, demonstrating her dedication and drive from a young age.
Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her husband, James; her son, Joseph (Tammy) Hill of Mecca; her brother, Dale (Janice) Ball of Bloomingdale; her sister, Delores (John) Woody of Bellmore; six grandchildren: Christi Hill, Melissa Lee, Nickolis Hill, Evan Hill, Adam Hill, and Aaron Hill; and nine great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Sharon was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Hill and Jerry Hill, and her brother, Gary Ball. She was a dedicated professional who served as the administrator of the Parke County Nursing Home for many years. Sharon was also an active and faithful member of the Free Life Community Church Mecca Campus, where she spent countless hours teaching Sunday school, Christian Youth Crusaders (CYC), and Vacation Bible School. Sharon loved playing the piano and singing at church, sharing her musical talents to inspire and uplift others.
An avid Riverton Parke sports fan, Sharon could often be found cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines. She was known for her hard work, generous spirit, and deep love for her family and community.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, Indiana, with the Rev. Dr. Dan Willis officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville.
