Sharon Ann Longley was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 18, 1943 to James and Mary Lou Gossman. At a very early age She moved to Spencer, lowa with her parents and graduated from the Spencer lowa High School with the class of 1962. She attended Stewart Beauty School in Sioux City, Iowa and then began work in Spencer, lowa.
In early 1964 she met Jack Longley of Okoboji, lowa as he was finishing his MBA at the University of South Dakota. On June 9, 1964 they were married and then moved to Chicago. After three years in Chicago and Peoria, Illinois Jack was called to be in the US Army. In the next five years they moved to Kansas, Germany, Belgium, and Texas. While in the service three children were born, Robert in Germany in 1968, Christine in Belgium in 1970 and John in Texas in 1972.
In early 1972 they moved to Spirit Lake, lowa where they lived for the next 17 years as Robert and Christine graduated from Spirit Lake High School. While in Spirit Lake Sharon was very involved in the local church.
In 1988 the family moved to Tucson where John was a junior in high school. Sharon opened a business called Sharon's Professional Wallpapering, Inc and worked in that firm for 16 years. By 2004 she retired and increased her involvement in the local church. In 2017 she began to have the beginnings of Parkinson's that would ultimately take her life.
She is survived by her husband Jack of Oro Valley, Arizona, son Robert of Tucson, Arizona, daughter Christine of Marana, Arizona and son Dr. John of Baltimore, Maryland. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, David. She is also survived by a granddaughter and three grandsons.
She is interred in the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona.
