Schwartz, Sharon C. (nee McClellan) (January 31, 2020). Adored and admired by all who knew her, Sharon was known for her intelligence, generosity, kindness and fun-loving spirit. Beloved wife of Keith D. Schwartz. Loving mother to Catie A., Nathan D., and Kelly E. Schwartz. Cherished daughter of Carol (William J.) Timmins, and the late J. Douglas McClellan. Sister to Adam McClellan. Stepsister to Genevieve (Anubhav) Bhargava, and Brendan (Katherine) Timmins. In addition to the immediate family, she is survived by a large, loving family that includes nieces Sophia and Stella Schwartz, Margot Timmins and nephew Jules Schwartz.
Born on August 27, 1970, Sharon was raised initially in the northwest section of Philadelphia; in 1985 her family moved to Flourtown. Sharon attended Springfield High School in Montgomery County, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science), and attended the University of Pennsylvania where she earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nursing. Sharon initially worked as a Nurse Practitioner and IVF Coordinator for several years before joining Fox Chase Cancer Center in 2006 as a Nurse Practitioner, GYN Oncology and Cofertility Coordinator. In recent years, her role expanded to include working in the Department of Clinical Genetics. She served on several committees including patient education and the nursing education advisory committee. One of her most noted accomplishments of lasting legacy was the founding and managing of the Oncofertility Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Sharon lectured nationally on issues that included fertility preservation, survivorship and ovarian cancer. She authored several publications and was a member of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and the Society of Gynecologic Nurse Oncologists (SGNO).
Relatives and friends are invited to Sharon's Celebration of Life, Monday, February 10, 11am at the Flourtown Country Club, 150 McCloskey Road, Flourtown, PA 19031. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sharon's name may be made to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, attn. Oncofertility Program, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
