Sharon McClean was born June 4, 1943 in Redlands, California and died June 8, 2023. She attended Redlands Community School and also attended University of Redlands where she received her teaching degree majoring in English. Sharon was hired by the Ocean View Community School where she taught for a number of years.
On June 25, 1977 Sharon was married to James (Jay) DuVal. They lived in Huntington Beach their entire married life. This union was blessed with a daughter, Sarah. When they adopted Sarah, Sharon quit teaching and started working from home as a proof-reader along with teaching and editing books, Sharon worked alongside her father and in later years managed a construction business with the help of her mentor and friend Harold "Woody" Warmoth, building beautiful homes in the Orange County area.
Jay and Sharon owned a motorhome and loved to go camping with her parents, made several trips back to Iowa to visit family, traveled to Nascar races always cheering for their favorite Tide driver, Darrell Waltrip. They also enjoyed spending days at the beach in Huntington Beach with their beloved dog, Pilgrim.
Preceding Sharon in death were her husband, Jay DuVal, parents Lee Roy and Mildred Arnett, brother-in-law Larry (wife Rose) DuVal. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sarah DuVal, step-son, Tim (wife Mon) DuVal, step-grandson Bobby, brother-in-law Bruce (wife Esta) DuVal, several nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Tabor, IA First Christian Church with Pastor Roger Charley officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 Saturday at the Church. Interment of ashes will be in the Tabor, IA Cemetery and memorials will go to the family. The Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, IA is in charge of local arrangements.
