Sharon Vermillion Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 4, 2025.
Sharon Virginia Vermillion, 77, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was born on July 5, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents, Billy Jean Newsome and Virginia Naylor.
Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernie Vermillion, with whom she shared a life full of laughter, hard work, and countless memories. The two met in Missouri while Sharon was working at Sportsman Pickup Covers and were married on December 3, 1998. Their shared love of travel and exploration led them from Missouri to Florida, and finally to Oklahoma, where they settled and built a beautiful life together.
In 2009, Sharon and Bernie pursued their dream of entrepreneurship by opening Country Bumpkin RV Repair, an endeavor that reflected their shared passion for travel and community. Together, they welcomed customers as family and built friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Throughout her life, Sharon lived in many places-including New Mexico, California, Oregon, Nevada, Alaska, Missouri, Florida, Colorado, and Oklahoma-each state leaving its own mark on her journey. She traveled far and wide, often taking road trips with her son, Chad, to look at cars and enjoy the open road.
At home, Sharon found joy in the simple pleasures-sitting on her porch watching hummingbirds, riding her electric bike with Bernie, or relaxing in the evenings with Wheel of Fortune. She was a talented homemaker, known for her homemade pies, Mexican casserole, and goulash, always making lemon meringue pie especially for Chad, "her favorite."
Growing up, Sharon loved being outdoors, crafting, and helping others. She worked in a bowling alley, enjoyed gardening, babysat neighborhood children, and later built a career that included work in construction and at Treasure Valley Casino in Davis, Oklahoma. A woman of strong faith, Sharon was a member of Mountain View Full Gospel Church.
Her hobbies reflected her creative and nurturing spirit-gardening, sewing, Russian embroidery, and traveling. She took pride in her home, her family, and the many lives she touched with her kindness and wisdom. Her greatest accomplishment, she often said, was raising children who are strong, successful, and kind, and then watching them build families of their own.
Sharon taught everyone around her the value of hard work, honesty, and integrity. The highlights of her life were always found in the company of her loved ones-her children and grandchildren who brought her endless joy and pride.
Sharon's life was one of love, perseverance, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and remembered always for her warm heart, her laughter, and her unwavering devotion to family.
