Levern M. "Maggie" Brooks, of Pauls Valley, passed away November 10, 2025 in Pauls Valley at the age of 81 years.
She has been a long-time resident of Pauls Valley.
Levern Martin was born May 6, 1944, in Foster to John William and Cynthia Victoria (Campbell) Martin.
At the age of 7, her father died and then at the age of 14, her mother died and she had to move to
Pauls Valley, OK to live with her oldest sibling, Pauline. It was while living with Pauline above the Lockie Gas Station, she met her future husband, Robert Earl Brooks.
On November 12, 1960, at the age of 16, Levern married Robert Earl Brooks, who was 19, in Marietta, Oklahoma. Today marked their 65th wedding anniversary. Together they had a great partnership. She was the love of his life and could do no wrong in his eyes. Together, they raised their three children right. She taught them how to cook and wash clothes wanting her children to self-sufficient. Saturday was cleaning the house day! She was very proud of her family and loved all of them. While there were many wonderful memories made, it didn't take long for her kids to quickly learn what it meant when momma called them by their full name!
She was loving wife, mother, homemaker and friend to many. Levern also enjoyed working in the retail clothing business. She was the Assistant Manager at Ashley's Clothing Outlet Store in Pauls Valley. She retired in 1995 to enjoy grandkids. She enjoyed spending time with them and especially taking the grandkids garage selling. She was a caring person and helped many people.
One of the things she was known for was her loud voice. She, along with her siblings, was gifted with having a voice that was loud along with being blessed with the gift of gab. You could locate her easily by her voice. Everyone enjoyed talking with her. She was one of the few individuals who got away with talking at a funeral, service, ball game or wherever.
