Sharon Anita Wells

Sharon Anita Wells, age 62, of Sayreville, passed away peacefully at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she lived in East Orange and later Rockaway Township before moving to Sayreville 20 years ago. Sharon proudly served the community as a police officer in East Orange for 25 years, rising up the ranks to become the first female Captain, Inspector and Acting Chief in the department. A master gardener, she had a great love of flowers, the beach and beautiful sunsets. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents Isiah Wells and Marilyn Ricard Oetjen, and her brothers Jeffrey and Joel Wells.

Surviving are her beloved daughters Danielle Davidson and her husband Rashun, Chevon Walker, and Janet Wells, her cherished grandchildren Kenneth, Kyle and Leila Davidson, her loving partner Raymond Brown, and her bonus daughter Zaniah Brown, her siblings Julie Golden, Terrilyn Wells, Gregory Wells, Bridgette O'Neal and Stephanie Brickley and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A memorial will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00am at Epic Church, 2707 Main Street Extension Sayreville, NJ.

A private cremation was entrusted to the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin.
