Sharon Jene Wilson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and member of our community. Sharon passed away peacefully at her home in Kansas City, Kansas on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at the age of 63.
Born March 2nd, 1962, in Kansas City, Kansas, Sharon was a lifelong resident of Bonner Springs, where she graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1981. She was a devoted homemaker, tirelessly supporting her family and enthusiastically chauffeuring her children to their various sporting events. For over 18 years, she also dedicated herself to a career as a secretary at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Overland Park, Kansas. Beyond her professional life and her dedication to her family, Sharon cherished simple pleasures: she was an avid reader, particularly of Christian romance novels, and found immense joy in being a stay-at-home grandmother to her growing brood of grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Sharon's life was marked by deep faith, a vibrant spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 36 years, Don Wilson; her son Willie Wilson and his wife Cynthia of Olathe, Kansas; her twin daughters Emily Hyde and her husband Shawn of Kansas City, Kansas, and Erica Wilson of Tonganoxie, Kansas; her brother William "Bill" Lillich of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and her four grandchildren, Jordan, Ella, Hunter, and Adeline, with another grandchild on the way.
Sharon was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Wilson (1992), her brother Harry Lillich (2009), and her parents, "Big Bill" and Bonnie Lillich.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 10th, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 11th, at Open Door Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, with interment to follow in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Don Wilson GoFundMe https://gofund.me/d4dad101. This fund will assist the family during this difficult time.
