Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2015.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, 45, was a part-time minister at Emanuel AME Church and worked as a speech pathologist at Goose Creek High School, where she was also the girls track coach.

Principal Jimmy Huskey said she was so dedicated she was at work before 8 a.m. and typically didn't leave until 8 p.m.

"She had a big smile," Huskey said. "Her No. 1 concern was always the students. She made a difference in the lives of children. She cannot be replaced here at this school."

The mother of three had run track herself as a student at South Carolina State University, helping lead her team to a conference championship.

A great lady who modeled professionalism in all she did. A lady who genuinely cared for kids and worked to give it her all. She will be greatly missed by all of us who knew her. May god hold her family in the palm of his hand and guide them as they deal with the loss but great legacy left by a fine christian woman and co-worker. She will be missed. RIP

I pray that the family of this exceptional woman, Mrs. Singleton, find it in their hearts to let go of the pain of this tragedy. She is in a better place now, that we all hope to end up in. She's with the man who created her above the clouds, and she is sitting next to him with a grin on her face, and watching down on all of us- especially her loving family. Don't think of her with tears on your face, think of her with smiles on your lips--I'm sure she would want that.

Stay safe, and remember she is in a safer place now.

With Love,

To The Singleton's Family,

My Thoughts and Prayers are with Pastor
Sharonda Singleton's family. I know "Jesus Christ" will comfort her son Christopher and family members. I did not know Sharonda are the other Brothers and Sisters of Mother Emanuel AME Church. I felt as I did, and my heart has wept for their family, friends and church members.

As for this beautiful lady:
She is smiling down from the Heavens above and her spirit will comfort her son Christopher. You all will see Sharonda again will our Lord and Savior returns to Earth!

And the Heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Lord: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.
PSALM 89:5

I'm crying as I type this, but I'm so comforted in the fact that you got to know HIM and served HIM well. I'll always have the memories of us eating starburst candy in history class (twisted together long and colorful), but mostly your spirit and smile. I always knew you were special. May God bless and give your beautiful family strength during this most difficult time, and may the stripes you've earned bear the words..job well done! I'll miss you forever! Class of 87 - VHS

Dear Singleton Family
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
You have given your dearest family member. They will have eternal life. I think that is important. My family have watched and been so proud of your family: Faith and trust in Christ. There has been so much swirling around it is so hard to keep up with what is right. Y'all know what is right.
I lived in Charleston 5 years ago in Ansonborough. I know your beautiful Church Family. Although I do not know you personally, please know your extended Charleston family Loves and is praying for you.
Together there will be change. Your best example will set the stage for HUGE change. Please know, we love you and hate you are having to deal with this. No family should deal with this.
Your loss is bringing the whole country together, but no family should have to endure that to make change.
Just know, your family is in my prayers, and know your reaction has changed the country. Trust in the Lord conquers all.
Deepest sympathy, Lance Hiatt and Tim Parks

I'm so sorry for your loss, but awed by your attitude - that has been the thing which (so far as I can see) has dominated the press - that you are leading Charleston in expressions of forgiveness and genuine love (the hard stuff), and promoting unity and community in the face of such violence, is inspiring and incredible, and I take my hat off to you.

Thank you for the lessons, given at such a difficult time - they are poignant and important.
