ShaRone Marcell Hunter (Shawn) was born January 5, 1972, in Kansas City, Kansas to William and Vanessa Hunter. He attended school in the Kansas City Missouri School District graduating from Paseo High School in 1990. ShaRone Hunter accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Bishop Prince King at the New Testament Pentecostal Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
Shawn joined the United States Army in July 1990 and served for 6 years as an Automated Logistical Specialist receiving an honorable discharge in 1996. While in the Army Shawn did a tour in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and a tour in Iraq during the Persian Gulf War where he received the Army good conduct medal, the national defense service medal, the Army service ribbon, the overseas service ribbon, the sharpshooter marksmanship badge with grenade bar and the marksman marksmanship qualification badge with rifle bar. Shawn and his unit ran several humanitarian missions to feed the Kurdish refugees in the mountains along the boarders of Turkey and Iraq. After his tour in Iraq Shawn served his last tour of duty in Fort Riley, Kansas where he met and married LaKeshia Holloway in 1994. They remained married for over 2 decades.
ShaRone was an avid sports enthusiast, he loved his Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, and Sporting KC. His door was always open to family and friends; he loved to entertain; he was the first one on the card or domino table ready for a good game. He was also a music aficionado; he had a vast knowledge of music from all genres. He was always ready to connect his phone and be the DJ. Shawn loved his Kansas City and Arkansas family; he was always up for a road trip to Arkansas to visit. He will be greatly missed by all mainly his children Cory, Antonette, Kenisha, and ShaRon.
He was proceeded in death by his mother (Vanessa), stepfather (Charles) grandfather (Arthur) and grandmother (Edna).
ShaRone’s last chapter in his Book of Life closed October 24, 2025.
He leaves to cherish his memories: father, William Hunter; four children, Cory Smith, Kansas, City, MO; Antonette Baldwin, Kansas City, MO; Kenisha Stubblefield, Kansas City, MO and ShaRon Hunter, Birmingham, AL. Four grandchildren, Malaysia Baldwin, Marlon Baldwin, Mar’Vaughn Baldwin and Azariahs Lewis. Two brothers, DaWone Hunter, Atlanta, GA and Charles Richard Burton III, Kansas, City, KS. Two sisters, Rochelle Webb, (Dennis), Kansas City, MO and LaVeda Carvin (Arthur), Kansas City, KS. Two aunts, Janice Howard (Danny) Overland, Park, KS and Edna Yvonne Bradley (Edward), Kansas City, MO. One great aunt, (Dorothy Walker) Tollette, AR, two great uncles (George and James Porter) Tollette, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
