SHARRON BRANDON Obituary
Sharron Elaine Dabney was born April 2, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the sixth of seven children born to Nannie and Arthur Dabney, Sr. Raised on the South side of the city, she attended South Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and committed her life to Christ at an early age. She was educated through Indianapolis Public Schools. From School #41 to Shortridge High School, she was almost inseparable with her two best friends Elease Williams (Womack) and Linda Salisbury (Johnson). They would often dress alike and attend picnics, parties and downtown movies.
Sharron graduated from Shortridge High School in 1963. Shortly after, she married Robert Cecil Wilson, and from this union they were blessed with her only child, Eric Wayne Wilson. She later married William Frederick Brandon, who preceded her in death.
Sharron dedicated over 30 years of her life to Blue Cross and Blue Shield, retiring in 1978. Continuing to grow in her faith and belief, in 1970 she joined Second Christian Church, later becoming Light of the World Christian Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. T. Garrot Benjamin, Jr. She sang in the Voices of the Light Choir and remained a faithful member for more than 50 years. Sharron loved her church and church family. She was well loved for her smile, positivity, encouragement, sense of humor, and her stylish dress. Sharron served in the "Light by Design" ministry at LWCC creating beautiful decorations throughout the church for special occasions. In 2016, she embarked upon her own entrepreneurial venture, "Sharron's Custom Designs" out of her love for creating distinctive flower arrangements. Sharron also loved interior design. She would share her unique talent with friends and often change the design of her own home. Sharron served as a Board Member of Flanner House of Indianapolis. A strong woman who, even as she aged, continued to be outgoing and active.
Sharron loved jazz and enjoyed going to jazz concerts. One of her favorite artists was Gerald Albright. She also enjoyed shopping and entertaining friends and family at her home. She will truly be missed by not only her family, but by the many people who considered her a caring friend.
One sunny, Sunday afternoon, while relaxing in her favorite chair on the porch of her home, God said, "No more sickness, no more pain it's time to come home". In a peaceful sleep on July 7, 2024, Sharron Elaine Dabney Brandon answered The Call of her Heavenly Father at the age of seventy-nine years. She was prepared and not afraid to join her beloved husband and family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Brandon; parents, Nannie and Arthur Dabney, Sr.; two sisters, Dorthy Dabney Spurlock and Marjorie Dabney Richardson, and three brothers, Henry Dabney, Arthur Dabney, Jr. and Dennis Dabney.
Sharron leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Bernice "Niecy" Dabney Newby; son, Eric (Kimberly), three generations of nieces and nephews, many cousins and loving friends and her church family.
