Mary Pauline (Gianakos) Albean 92 of Carmel, Indiana passed away on Oct 11, 2025. Mary was born on January 15, 1933, in Indianapolis to Paul John and Stella V. Gianakos of Greece. Mary was a graduate Shortridge High School Class of 1950 and Butler University Class of 1954 where she earned her degree in Journalism and English. Mary was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After graduation she worked for 6 years at the Indianapolis News on the copy desk for women’s pages. Later she worked at the downtown L.S. Ayres Department Store and then Jacobson’s at the Fashion Mall. Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Mary married the love of her life, George Lawrence “Larry” Albean on March 15, 1959. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry Albean in 2003, her brother and sister-in-law John (Violet) Gianakos and sister and brother-in-law Athena (Robert) Wright. Calling will be held on Wednesday October 15, 2025 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral from 10-11 am with the funeral service at 11 am. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mary is survived by her two sons, David (Sharon) Albean and Matthew (Karen) Albean her grandchildren, Bo Albean, Kate Albean, Zoe Albean-(Michael) Johnson and Elena Albean, sister, Georgia (Gianakos) Buchanan, nieces, Cynthia (Bill) Longest and Lisa Gianakos and her nephews, Paul (Cheri) Gianakos and Bryan Hadin. Memorial contributions make be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral or Ladies Philoptochos Society in Mary’s memory.
