Shawn Edgell, 47, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on September 13, 2025. He was born on July 24, 1978 in Elyria, Ohio.
Shawn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Maryann Edgell; his children, Devon, Justin, and Haylee Edgell; and his beloved granddaughter, Haezel. He also leaves behind his stepfather, Dave McLaughlin; siblings, Kevin (Lisa) Edgell, Michael (Tracy) Edgell, Theresa McCoy, Paula (Carl) Wells, Henry Beachler Jr., Toni Walls, and Chris Barlow, along with many other cherished family members and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie McLaughlin, and his father, Henry “Hank” Beachler.
Shawn was known for his vibrant personality and deep love for his family and friends. Whether at a family gathering, a night of shooting pool, playing cards, or singing karaoke, Shawn brought laughter and warmth to every moment. He lived life to the fullest and made everyone around him feel valued and seen.
In recent years, Shawn built a successful career as a professional painter, taking great pride in his work. His projects included high-profile jobs such as painting roller coasters at Cedar Point and contributing to renovations at Cleveland Browns Stadium. His craftsmanship and work ethic were matched only by his dedication to providing for his family.
Beyond his career, Shawn was passionate about giving back to his community. He was an active member of a local motorcycle club, known as the Worthless Nuts Club, that frequently participated in events to support others. Helping people brought him immense joy and purpose.
Shawn’s presence left a lasting mark on everyone he met. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at the Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria on Saturday, September 20 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, with a service beginning at 4:00 pm.
