Morse in Bonner Springs, Kansas to celebrate Rick's life,

Rick was never much for formality so please dress casually and wear K-State Purple or KC Chiefs gear.

Rick was born on February 8, 1952, and grew up in Leavenworth, Kansas, graduating from Leavenworth High School in 1970. He then attended Kansas State University, where he initially enrolled in the veterinary program. During his time at K-State, Rick played football. His education was interrupted when he returned home to support his family following the passing of his father. Rick then began by working for Zales Jewelry, where he became a District Sales Manager. This position required traveling, including frequent trips to New York, where he selected diamonds. Later in life, Rick dedicated three decades of his life to public service in corrections. He first served as a correctional officer at the Kansas State Prison before transitioning to the Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth, where he concluded a commendable 30-year career upon his retirement.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick loved the outdoors and all kinds of animals, both domestic or wild, He particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing, often sharing these cherished activities with his family and hunting buddies on their farm in Western Kansas. Rick, found joy and freedom in riding his motorcycle, and treasured family adventures, especially road trips across the country. Rick, along with his family, took many trips, proudly visiting every state in the nation. He believed in enjoying not just the destination, but also the precious moments and memories created along the way. A highlight of his year was the annual Labor Day family trips, which provided invaluable opportunities to connect and make lasting memories with his daughter and grandchildren.

Rick's is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Edgell, of the home, one daughter, Michelle Hartegan of Bonner Springs, Kansas. two grandchildren: Ashlee Espinoza (Sydney) of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and Andy Espinoza (Christina), of Tonganoxie, Kansas. He was a proud great-grandfather to Ava and Garrett. Rick also leaves behind two brothers, John Edgell of New Braunfels, Texas, and David Edgell of Columbia, Missouri, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that will miss him greatly.
