Shawn Hedrick

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of James "Shawn" Hedrick, who left this world on July 14, 2025, at the age of 65.
Shawn was the kind of soul who made the world feel a little softer just by being in it. Born on November 12, 1959, he lived a life rooted in love, laughter, and loyalty. Whether he was cooking up something special in the kitchen, telling stories around a campfire, or simply sitting with the people he loved, Shawn brought joy and comfort wherever he went.
He was a proud husband, a loving father, a playful uncle, and a faithful friend. There was nothing he loved more than being surrounded by family-especially the little ones who knew him not just as "Uncle Shawn," but as their personal jungle gym, storyteller, and snack provider. His nieces and nephews were his pride and joy, and he made sure they always knew they were loved.
Shawn also found deep happiness in the ordinary-camping under the stars, laughing with lifelong friends, and just being present in the moment. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and completely at home in his presence. That was his gift-he didn't have to try to be special. He just was.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Miles Hedrick Jr. and Jacquline L. Caldwell and his cherished nephew, Nathan Cloninger, whose memory he held close to his heart.
Shawn leaves behind his beloved wife, Pam Ford, who stood by his side through every season of life; his children, Paul Wilson and Jessica Wilson, whom he loved with his whole heart; his siblings, Pansy Cloninger (and Oscar), Susie Elders, and Nicky Joe Helms; his nephew Chad Cloninger; and his brothers-in-law, Bobby Ford (and Mary) and Tim Ford. He also leaves behind a new grandson, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored him, and countless friends who considered him family.
A Celebration of Shawn's Life will be held from 6:30-9:00 pm on Thursday, July 24th, 2025 at St. Marks United Methodist Church - 701 Secrest Avenue in Belmont.
Though his physical presence is gone, Shawn's spirit lives on-in every story told around a fire, every shared meal, and every act of love and kindness passed forward in his name.
He was deeply loved. And he will be deeply missed.
