Shawn Killion Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clark Funeral Home - Neosho on Feb. 24, 2026.
Shawn David Killion, 57, of Stark City, Missouri, passed away on February 23rd, 2026, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was born on October 10th, 1968, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Gary Killion and Robin Avis Killion.

Shawn graduated from Wheaton High School and went on to build a successful career in the solar industry, serving as a general manager. He was known for his professionalism, drive, and steady leadership. Shawn approached his work with focus and determination, yet he never lost his sense of humor. He believed you could work hard and still enjoy life - and he did both exceptionally well.

Those who knew Shawn best would describe him as funny, outgoing, and the kind of person who truly never met a stranger. He had a gift for making people feel comfortable, seen, and valued. He offered a consoling ear when someone needed to talk and gave the warmest hugs that could make even the hardest day feel lighter. His laughter was contagious, and his playful spirit often showed up in the form of quoting his favorite movies at just the right moment. His kids often kept him young by hiding around corners and giving him good jumpscares.

Music was woven deeply into Shawn's life. At just 12 years old, he started a band called JJ & The TKS Express with his sister, Jennifer, beginning what would become a lifelong journey as a drummer. Over the years, his band, The Blue Underground, became more than just music - it became family, with friendships spanning more than 30 years. He loved practicing, performing, and sharing his talents. Whether on stage or rocking out in the car to Foreigner with the volume turned up, Shawn felt music in his soul. He also loved karaoke and family game nights, where his competitive streak and sense of humor were always on full display.

Outside of music, Shawn found peace and joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, golfing, and spending time in nature, appreciating both the adventure and the quiet moments.

Shawn was a devoted father and took immense pride in his children. He cherished driving them to practices and activities, cheering them on, and simply being present. Supporting and encouraging them wasn't something he had to think about - it was who he was. His love was steady, strong, and unwavering.

His faith in the Baha'i tradition guided his life. It shaped the compassion he showed others, the unity he believed in, and the hope he carried even during difficult times. His spirituality was reflected not only in what he believed, but in how he treated people - with kindness, dignity, and warmth.

Shawn is survived by his children, Emily Killion and her fiancé, Jordan Walton, of Joplin, Missouri, and Connor Killion of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his mother, Robin Killion; his stepchildren, Tanner Weatherman and Sarah (Jon) Abernathy; his sister, Jennifer Bray; his niece, Robin Welker; his nephews, Garrett Bray and Ryan Bray; and numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Killion; his sister, Kelley Dawn Killion; and his stepson, Cody Weatherman.

Shawn's life was a beautiful balance of strength and joy, hard work and laughter, faith and family. He leaves behind a legacy of music, memories, and love that will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Dice Cemetery. A memorial visitation will take place on February 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheaton High School Gymnasium
