Carol Killion Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bryan Funeral Home - Hoxie on Feb. 13, 2026.
Carol Ann Killion, aged 83 of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, February

11th at St. Elizabeth's Place nursing facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was preceded in

death by her husband, Dr. Grant Killion and her parents, Millard and Miriam Bailey of

Ravenden Springs, Arkansas. Carol was born and raised in Ravenden Springs and met

Grant at Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas where she started school at the tender age of

16.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Deborah Killion of Pocahontas and Brenda Cooper of

Conway, a brother, Bill Bailey and a sister-in-law, Freeda Bailey, both of Pocahontas.

Several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

Carol graduated from Arkansas State University in 1974, completing the degree in Business

Education from Harding. She then began teaching at BRTC (Black River Technical College)

in 1975. Carol got her Master's degree in Business Education from Arkansas State University.

Later, she acquired her S.C.C.T. (Specialist in Community College teaching)

degree as well. She taught Typing, Accounting, and Shorthand in the 70s, then taught

Windows and computer skills as technology evolved. She was a dedicated teacher who

truly cared for her students and loyal employee of BRTC for 33 years and was the first to

introduce online classes at BRTC. She also led FBLA, (Future Business Leaders of America)

and helped numerous students obtain better jobs which many reported that they kept for

over 20 years.

Carol was a member of civic organizations focused on helping those in need and improving

her community including the Women's Club of Pocahontas and "Red Hat Society."

Carol was a devoted Christian and a member of the church of Christ. She accompanied

her husband, Grant to many small congregations where he preached, and later Grant

served as an elder for a local congregation for 22 years. Carol was dedicated to God and

benevolent works of many kinds including visiting the sick, cooking for families, and other

works. She and Grant were especially partial to helping hungry children and often gave to

the Paragould Christian Children's Home.

Carol was the most wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother one can imagine and, while

she was devoted to her career, her family always came first. She knew how to put priorities

on what mattered the most and she would help anyone she could to help them improve

themselves and their lives.

Carol loved to travel with her husband Grant to see and take pictures of nature like

waterfalls and mountains. She loved to travel with her family and share experiences with

them. Carol showed love to all she knew, even strangers. She was a beautiful soul and a

"song of joy" (like her name) and loved to play the piano and sing in local choirs, at church,

and with her family. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 2 PM at the Ravenden Springs Church of Christ with Dennis McCarty officiating. Pallbearers will be Braden Cooper, John Reese, and other family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Butterfield, Jim Mooney, and Bill Bailey. Interment will follow in the Janes Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 2 PM.
