Windsor- Shawn Thomas McFarland, born on October 12, 1977, in Augusta, Maine was sent to his eternal home on August 15, 2025, in Windsor, Maine. He is the beloved son of Dorene (Toulouse) and predeceased Richard F. McFarland.

Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Kaitlyn McFarland (Dyer) and his beloved children C.J., Dakota, Lainey, Gage, Brody, and Waylon McFarland. Shawn leaves behind two brothers, Jason and Helena (Gagliano) McFarland, Ryan and Daisy (Des Lagunes) McFarland, and sister, Jenna Lynn McFarland. Shawn is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his best friend, Susan MacMaster-Beaulieu.

Shawn is a graduate of Gardiner High School where he participated on the soccer, swim, and wrestling team. He was an active saxophone player and talented writer. Shawn earned his Order of the Arrow and Eagle Scout, and applied those principles and values of loyalty, courage, and service, to his family and community.

Those who knew Shawn, will remember him for being a loving and committed father with an infectious smile and an overwhelming sense of humor, with a love for off-roading in his side-by-side. He will be missed in the Boy Scout community where he was the Cubmaster for Pack 609 in Windsor. His civic duties expanded into the mental health community, where he was recognized for his mental health advocacy, which inspired his non-profit organization called Tru Connection Recovery & Reentry in Kennebec County.

Shawn's unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday September 2, 2025, at 5pm at the Augusta Elks Club, 397 Civic Center Drive, Augusta, Maine 04330. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, ME.
