Shawn Christopher Parnell, 48, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on June 12, 2025. Born on February 21, 1977, in Jacksonville, Shawn spent his life rooted in the community he loved.
A proud graduate of the University of North Florida, Shawn dedicated over two decades to his career at JEA as an Electrical Engineer, serving from 2003 until his passing. Earlier in life, he gave back to his community as part of the Volunteer Life Saving Corps from 1993 to 2000, always placing the well-being of others before himself.
Shawn was known for his love of the outdoors—fishing, exploring nature, and spending quality time with family brought him the greatest joy. His kind heart, sharp mind, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Shawn is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Liz; his beloved daughter, Lorelei; and his son, William. He is also survived by his parents, Pam and Carl; brother Carl III (Elizabeth) and their 3 children; Carl IV, Joseph; Sarah; his grandfather, Howard Crowe; his grandmother, Peggy Parnell; and his in-laws Salvator and Kasey Giustra.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27th, in Quinn Shalz Funeral Home, located in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the Terrace room at Margaritaville, where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Shawn's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you cherish time with your loved ones and spend a moment outdoors in Shawn’s memory.
