It is with heavy hearts that we remember and celebrate the life of Shawn Paul Schech, who passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana. Born on Wednesday, September 22, 1993, in Marrero, Louisiana, Shawn’s journey through life was marked by a generous spirit, a joyful heart, and an unwavering connection to his family and friends.

Shawn attended Ponchatoula High School, where he grew not only in knowledge but also in character, becoming a young man known for his big heart and infectious love for life. His career as a finisher in concrete construction was one where he demonstrated diligence and craftsmanship, building more than structures; he built trust and lasting relationships with those around him.

Those who knew Shawn cherished his lively spirit and his genuine desire to share good times with those he loved. Whether enjoying simple moments or festive gatherings, he filled rooms with warmth and laughter, embodying a spirit that made everyone around him feel special and valued.

Shawn is lovingly remembered by his father and stepmother, Shawn and Sheila Schech; his mother, Kim Hauck Willis; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Jessica Schech. His nieces, Carolyn and Rosalee Schech, and nephew, Mathias Schech, will forever carry fond memories of their beloved uncle. He was also deeply loved by his grandfather and step-grandmother, Paul and JoAnn Hauck, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends who were blessed to share in his life.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charlie and Mattie Schech, and Linda and Rodney White; his great grandmother Esther Whittekind; his Godfather Hank Tyson; his uncle Patrick Hauck; and his great uncle Woodrow (Butch) Scovil. Their memory lives on in the hearts of those Shawn touched so profoundly.

A visitation to honor Shawn’s life will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at LN Hughes Funeral Services, in the chapel of 21400 S I - 12 Service Rd, Ponchatoula, LA 70454. The Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and remembrance.

As we bid farewell to Shawn Paul Schech, we hold tightly to the spirit he shared—a big-hearted soul who truly enjoyed every moment spent with those he held dear. His legacy of love, joy, and warmth will forever remain an indelible part of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest peacefully.
