LIEUTENANT SHAWN MICHAEL YARBROUGH
Lieutenant Shawn Michael Yarbrough, St. Augustine, Florida, passed away June 13, 2024. He was born September 27, 1977 in Jacksonville Florida.
Shawn graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and the St. Johns County Fire Academy at First Coast Technical Institute in 2003. He served 20 years of faithful, dedicated service as a Firefighter/ Paramedic, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. He had recently taken the Captains Test.
Shawn was a very devoted father and spent his free time doing family activities with his sons and step-daughter. He had many hours of volunteer service to the community and on behalf of the Fire Department. He was currently serving as a volunteer coach for his sons' St. Augustine little league baseball team. The enduring sacrifices as a Firefighter and Paramedic ensured his children many opportunities and adventures.
Shawn also enjoyed fishing, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, cooking, and entertaining. He was known as a really good cook. He became a friend to everyone he met. Shawn felt that "Adventure is Everywhere"!
We will remember Shawn for his smile, his laugh, his kind heart, and the man we did know.
Shawn leaves behind three sons, Talan, Corbin, and Weston Yarbrough; Step-daughter Lillian Perez; Brother Chad Yarbrough and his wife and children; Parents Ralph and Carol Yarbrough; and many special and beloved family members and friends.
A private service to commemorate Shawn's life will be held at a later date.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
