SHAWNTEASE COMBS Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cumberland Valley Funeral Home on Mar. 15, 2026.
Shawntease Delshell Combs, age 51, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed peacefully from this life at her residence on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Born on December 3, 1974, in Harlan, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of the late Everett "Scottie" and Carol Watts Combs.

Shawntease grew up in the heart of Harlan County, surrounded by the hills and community she called home. At the age of twenty-one, with ambition and a bright spirit, she set out to build a life of her own, making her way to Charlotte, North Carolina. There she built a career as a Customer Service Representative for Allstate Insurance Company, a role that suited her perfectly, as she had a natural gift for helping people and putting others at ease.
In recent years, as her health began to decline, Shawntease made the tender decision to return to her Harlan County roots to be closer to her brother. She faced her health challenges with remarkable grace and quiet strength, having already walked through profound heartbreak with the losses of those closest to her. Yet through it all, she never failed to greet the world with a warm and radiant smile. Those who knew her remember a woman with a wonderful, loving personality, someone who lit up every room she entered and made every person feel genuinely cared for.
She had a deep and tender love for animals, especially her cherished cat, Styles, who was her faithful companion. Her compassion for people and creatures alike spoke volumes about the kindness at the very core of who she was.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved fiancé, Grady "Trey" Boswell III; and her stepson, Christian Boswell.
Left to cherish her memory and mourn her passing are her devoted brother, Scottie Edward Combs of Cumberland, KY; her sister, Shasta (Paul, Jr.) Ashby of Charlotte, North Carolina; a very special uncle, Roger Wells of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; her three adored nephews, Caleb, Gabriel, and Zachary Ashby, whom she loved with her whole heart; and her beloved cat, Styles.
Shawntease carried more loss in her heart than most, yet she never let it dim the light she offered to others. She will be deeply and forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
There will be no services at this time.
