Sheila Jane Boyle, 79, of Vancouver, WA, passed away Nov. 19, 2023.
She was born Aug. 5, 1944, to Howard and Beverly Casey and grew up in Butte, MT. She attended Carroll College in Helena, MT, and received a Master’s Degree in education.
As an English teacher, Sheila was known for her quick wit, assertiveness, and devotion to promoting lifelong learners in her students.
An avid animal lover, Sheila volunteered at the Humane Society, as well as caring for her own Siberian Huskies, Keno, Lady, Ricky, Sitka and Kia.
Most importantly, Sheila is remembered for her love of family, hugs and kisses always extended for the loved ones still among us, and roses planted in the garden for those who have already been called upon by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Shelia is survived by her loving husband, Tom Boyle; her three children, Mary Jane Holt, Bethann Kopf (John Kopf), and Sean Boyle; her sister, Mary Beth Tahar; nephews, Adam Tahar and Zack Tahar; her five grandchildren, Emily Holt, Alix Kopf, Jackson Holt (Tabitha Holt), Kaitlin Boyle, and Thomas Boyle; and one great-grandchild, Phoenix Holt.
Feel free to join Sheila’s family on March 21, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church in Vancouver, WA, to celebrate her life. A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., a Mass service at 11 a.m., and a reception at noon.

Mrs. Boyle and I developed a special bond when we slogged through the unabridged version of Les Miserables together for LEAP (everyone else was reading the abridged version). She was a wonderful and dedicated teacher and, more than 30 years later, I still think of her often (actually was just telling a friend about her the other day), and it always bring a smile to my face. So sorry to hear of her passing - my condolences to her loved ones and friends.
