Sheila Higgins, age 82, of Erie, passed away in the arms of her husband of 58 years and holding the hand of her only daughter, Kelly on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born March 22, 1943, in Erie, a daughter of the late Joseph D. and Jane (Rooney) Sullivan.
Sheila graduated from Villa Maria Academy in 1961. She then went on to graduate from Spencer Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. Sheila was a Registered Nurse with Metro Health Center for 22 years. She was an avid fan of Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dennis Garrity.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Thomas Higgins; two sons, Patrick J. Higgins, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Michael T. Higgins (Carla), of Erie; a daughter, Kelly Ann Higgins, of Erie; three brothers, Michael Sullivan (Kathleen), of Cooperstown, NY, Kevin Sullivan (Mary Beth), of Arlington, Virginia, and Joseph Sullivan (Jackie), of Wintergarden, FL; two sisters, Patricia Walsh (Richard), of Erie, and Mary Garrity, of Oxford, Georgia; four grandchildren, Courtney Higgins, Collin VanBuskirk, Alexis LaBoda, and Anthony LaBoda; as well as a special friend, Len Andrzejewski. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie on Sunday, September 28 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. And are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Church, 130 E. 4th St., Erie, PA 16507 on Monday at 10 AM.
