Sheila Humblet Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Sheila K. Humblet was the youngest child of Edmund and Shirley (Helf) Humblet, born on February 4, 1965. She passed away peacefully early on August 2, 2025, after putting up a valiant fight against malignant melanoma.

Sheila worked as a medical transcriptionist for Aspirus for 40 years and was an active member of the Wausau Jaycees for many years. She volunteered at the local library. Her Catholic faith was a big part of her life, and she sang in the church choir. That love of singing also manifested itself as a member of the Birnamwood Community Singers.

Sheila inherited her love of flowers and gardening from her parents, and especially her love of roses from her dad and always took the first rose of the season to his final resting place. She did a beautiful job with her landscaping.

Sheila took after her aunts Dolores and Wilma with her talents at sewing, embroidery, and knitting. She also loved quilting and helped out with Quilts of Honor. Sheila had a sweet tooth and followed in her Aunt Wilma's baking footsteps.

Sheila loved animals. Not only did she love the dogs of her family – Mutt, Poochie, Spike, Collie, Sasha, and Haylen – but she also dog sat for many friends and neighbors. Upon her passing, one can only imagine the wagging tails of all those dogs she said goodbye to over the years! She adopted two cats, Mr. Kitty and Pixie Marie and gave them a loving home.

Sheila was a huge John Wayne fan, and her favorite movie of his was "The Quiet Man", which prompted her to visit Ireland. She had always hoped to return there, she enjoyed it so much.

Another favorite of Sheila's was anything related to The Peanuts, of which she collected pretty much anything related to them.

Sheila was preceded in death by her father Ed, uncle Merland Helf, and aunts Wilma Helf, Mavis (Harold) Nauta, and Dolores (Ervin) Fleischmann, and older brother Jon. She is survived by her mother, Shirley; siblings, Faith (Patrick) Hunt, and David (Marta) Humblet; nieces and nephew, Amanda (Robert) Koss, Jeremy (Amy) Hunt, Ella Humblet and Marina Humblet; great nieces and nephews, Noah, Lucy, Eli, Zoe, Quentin, Olivia and Evie. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Her family would like to offer a huge thank you to Wausau Aspirus Hospice House for their incredible care. Their tender support during the last few weeks of her life helped preserve her dignity and eased her transition.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Vicente Llagas will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church.
