ARGYLE – Sheila R. Lohret, 90, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.
Born on August 15, 1933, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Ashe) Collins.
She had wonderful memories of growing up on Walnut Street in Glens Falls. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1952.
Sheila married, Joseph Lohret on Sept. 19, 1959, at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls. They spent 46 years together until his passing in 2006.
She was a very hard worker, working many jobs over the years. Sheila worked for General Electric and while working there she earned her Associates degree from ACC in 1989. She retired in 1993.
Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her son, Michael S. Lohret, brother, Robert Collins, sister, Barbara Shelton and great-granddaughter, Maeve McCormick.
Survivors include her children: Joseph G. (Lucille) Lohret III, Mary (Bob) Newton, Roberta (Dan) Brown, Mark Lohret, Matthew (Karen) Lohret, Terri (Glenn) Bristol, Peter (Stephanie) Lohret; sister-in-law, Anne Gifford; brother-in-law, Jack Lohret; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Sheila's request there will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at St. Joseph's Church, Broadway, Fort Edward.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga, NY 12866 or to Fort Hudson Foundation, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
