Sheila Mitchell

Sheila Mitchell (Klinsky) of Colchester, 85, passed away on January 10, 2026, at Marlborough Medical Center. She was the cherished daughter of the late Jack and Belle Klinsky of Delray Beach, Florida, and was predeceased by her brother Stephen Klinsky of Endwell, New York.

Sheila was the devoted wife of 55 years to Gerald Mitchell and a loving mother to her sons Scott Mitchell (Kate Doohan) of Maple Valley, Washington, and Brian Mitchell (Renee Allister) of Southington. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Ty and Kylie Doohan-Mitchell of Maple Valley, Washington, and step-grandmother to Keegan and Maddie Allister of Southington.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 18th, 1940, and graduated from Long Beach High School in 1958. Her first job was a bookkeeper at The Tailored Woman in Manhattan. She then worked at S&S in Colchester where she made many lifelong friends. Sheila volunteered as treasurer of the Colchester Baseball League and enjoyed attending all of her son's sporting events, never missing a game. After retirement, she enjoyed selling tickets at Bacon Academy's football and basketball games where she made many more friends. Sheila was a huge sports fan and loved watching the New York Yankees and the Uconn Women's basketball team. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by so many.

Visitation will be held on January 16th, 2026, from 10 am-11:30 am followed by a memorial service at Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home in Colchester.
