Sheila Ruth Mucci

Sheila Ruth Mucci, a lifelong New Yorker known for her warmth, creativity, intelligence, and unique spirit, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026. She was 86 years old.

Born on June 23, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, Sheila was the daughter of Tess Fingerer and Harry Kugler. From an early age, she had a natural eye for beauty and expression, along with a sharp mind and curiosity that stayed with her throughout her life. Sheila also graduated from Hunter College, majoring in Arts & Sciences.

Sheila made her home in Thornwood, New York, where she lived with her husband, Louis Mucci, who survives her. Together, they shared many years of life and family.

A truly creative soul, Sheila had a deep passion for photography and the arts. Her work reflected her eccentric and imaginative personality, capturing the world through a lens that was entirely her own. She carried this creativity into her professional life, working in advertising and design, where she was able to use both her artistic talents and intelligence.

Sheila also found joy in the simple comforts of life. She loved to cook and had a special affection for cats, which brought her companionship and happiness over the years.

Sheila will be remembered as a warm and caring person who touched the lives of those around her.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer, and her son, David Chatzky. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa O'Brien; her granddaughter, Samantha Coolman; and her great-granddaughter, Scarlett Coolman.

Sheila's creativity, kindness, and one-of-a-kind spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be quietly missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
