Joseph Mucci, 94, of
Niceville, FL, peacefully passed on to be with his Lord and
Savior on February 4, 2026. He will be greatly missed by his family here in Florida,
California, and New Mexico in addition to all his friends and agents in California, and
friends and caregivers here in Niceville. Born in Brooklyn N.Y., the youngest son, of
Carmela and Giuseppe Mucci, Italian immigrants from Campobasso, Italy. He was a
wonderful father and husband and dedicated his life to loving and providing for his
family. After working on Wall Street for 2 years, Joe served honorably in the United
States Air Force for 25 years and reached the rank of Lt. Col. He entered basic training
at Sampson AFB in upstate N.Y. and began his time in the military as a clerk typist.
While stationed at Turner AFB, he met and fell in love with his beautiful wife, Mary, in
Albany, Georgia and started their family in Tripoli, Libya. Working hard throughout his
career, he became the Chief of Bomb Navigation at Westover, AFB after completing
navigation training at Ellington in Houston, TX and advanced radar navigation at
Sheppard AFB. His last 3 duty stations were Westover, Mather, and Kincheloe AFB. Joe
served 5 tours in Vietnam earning the distinguished flying cross participating in the
major bombing campaigns of Linebacker I & II. Upon retirement from the military in
1976, Joe started his second 25 year career as a real estate agent. Working hard, he
became a broker and was the manager of the number 1 Coldwell Banker office in
California and was very much loved and respected by all his agents and clients. He
completely retired in 2001 and enjoyed traveling and seeing his children and
grandchildren and supporting them in every significant life event. He loved family time
most, fine dining, bowling, tennis, ping pong, mini golf, crossword puzzles, playing
bridge, poker, hearts and the card game of golf. He also loved to learn about history.
After living in their house in California for 50 years, Joe moved with his wife, Mary,
to
Niceville, FL in Feb of 2020 right before the shutdowns of the Covid Pandemic.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Dom Mucci and John
Mucci, and his sisters, Lucy Pirone, Elaine Flores, and Connie Fasano.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary of 71 years, his son, Jim (Oksana) Mucci of
Sacramento, CA., his daughter, Lisa, of
Albuquerque, NM, and his daughter Lori
(Charlie) Stoner of
Niceville, FL, and his 5 grandchildren, Taylor (Kayla) Klinkmann, Grace
(Cory) Culberson, Hannah Stoner and Michaela Klinkmann, and Maksym (Iryna) Malysh.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on February 12th at 9:00 AM with visitation starting at
8:30 AM at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home located on 1405 E John Sims Parkway, Niceville,
FL followed by a brunch reception. Burial will take place at Barrancas National
Cemetery in Pensacola at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
Wounded Warrior in honor of Joseph's
military service.
