Sheila Marie Roux, 68, of Kirkville died September 16 after a long illness.
Born in Syracuse to Stanley and Charlotte (Atkinson) Getek Sr., Sheila graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1975 with honors in soccer and music. As a U.S. Navy spouse, she turned a house into a home whether in Akiya, Japan; Lemoore, California; Columbia Falls, Maine or back in Central New York.
Her work ethic showed in the varied jobs held due to traveling. From working in a yarn mill, digging clams, raking blueberries, picking brush (Christmas wreaths) and being a Master Decorator for Syracuse China. Sheila enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader for a number of years, as well as camping and especially any time spent around a camp fire with music and friends.
Surviving besides her husband Thomas, are a daughter, Jennifer (Will Towning of Rockhampton, Aust.); five brothers, Robert (Pam) of Camillus, Richard (Sharon) of Baldwinsville, Stanley Jr. (Grace) of Albany, Ga., David (Cindy) of Eastwood and Michael of North Syracuse; one sister, Susan (Kevin) Lee of Liverpool; one uncle, John Atkinson of Liverpool; many nieces, nephews and cousins all over.
Sheila is predeceased by her sister, Donna Thompson passed away in 2022. A celebration of life will be held between 12:00 and 2:00 on Sunday September 28 at Chapman Park 1463 Route 31, Bridgeport.
