Sheila Mary (Doyle) Spooner, age 75, a longtime Concord resident, died peacefully at home amongst the loving presence of her family on Monday morning, October 3, 2022. She was the beloved wife for 54 years of Frank H. Spooner.
Born on January 18, 1947, Sheila was raised in Concord as the daughter of the late Clarence Edward Doyle and Mary (Reilly) Doyle. A graduate of Rose Hawthorne, she completed her education at Catherine Labouré School of Nursing.
Sheila worked as a Registered Nurse at Emerson Hospital and Waltham Hospital, before becoming a School Nurse for Concord Public Schools. Subsequently, she was a Secretary at the Concord Middle School, and an Administrative Assistant at Our Lady Help of Christians, and later, Holy Family Parish in Concord.
She remained actively involved throughout her life in the community she loved, and also devoted countless hours of volunteer work at Our Lady Help of Christians.
Sheila was an avid knitter and could often be found baking something delicious for friends and family. An outdoors enthusiast, she enjoyed walking and experiencing nature. Above all, she loved spending quality time with her family, particularly her ten grandchildren, all of whom she adored and shared a special bond with.
In addition to her husband Frank, she will be forever remembered and missed by her four loving children, John Spooner and his wife Tracey of Chelmsford, Ed Spooner and his wife Ann of West Bridgewater, Andrew Spooner and his wife Carolyn of Salem, and Kate Cameron and husband Justin of Bolton. She was the proud "Meima" of Anthony, Emma, Nicholas, Meredith, Megan, Abigail, Ryan, Charlotte, Alice and Hannah. She also leaves her sisters, Rosetta Moreau and her husband Tom of Concord and Riki Orpik of Plymouth, her sister-in-law, Mary Doyle of Concord, and many nieces and nephews. Sheila was also the sister of the late John and Charlie Doyle, and sister-in-law to the late Bill Orpik and Marty Doyle.
Family and friends will celebrate Sheila's life during visiting hours in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Thursday, October 6th from 4 to 7 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 7th at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
