Ms. Shelby Jean Winburn, age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 27, 2024. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Garden Road Baptist Church by Pastor Danny Chavis with burial to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her son, Reverend Ricky & Ellen Morton.
Ms. Winburn was born May 25, 1958 in Concord, NC a daughter of the late William Luther and Elmer Elizabeth Smothers Winburn. She served her entire working career as a nurse’s aide working in both home health care and hospitals. She was a member of Garden Road Baptist Church of Wallace. Shelby enjoyed fishing and watching her favorite tv shows, Little House on the Prairie and the Conners. A lady who loved her family deeply, she could normally be found on the front porch watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play and enjoy being spoiled by “Maw Maw”!
In addition to her parents, Ms. Winburn was also preceded in death by her brother, William Ervin “Bill” Winburn; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte May Garcia, and Kannon Raye Williams.
Survivors include her son, Reverend Ricky (Ellen) Morton of Cheraw, SC; daughter, Kathy (Scottie) Sims of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Eric (Amber) Lloret, Jr. of Wallace, SC, Elena (Hugo Garcia) Lloret of Chesterfield, SC, Allison (Drew Reid) Sims of Mt. Croghan, SC, Liberty Grace Sims, Brandy Rose Wallace, Laylonee Ana-Lee Wallace all of Chesterfield, SC, Ricky Morton, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, and Chris (Nisa) Morton of Patrick, SC; great grandchildren, Sawyer, Ace, Damon, Addy, and Emma;
sister, Shirley E. Freeman (Glenn Whitaker) of Ruby, SC; son of the heart, Rodney Boan of Chesterfield, SC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
