Shelby Kriskovich Obituary

Shelby Jo Kriskovich, 88, of Bloomingdale, IL, passed away on October 15, 2025 peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on January 2, 1937, in Blytheville, AR, to William Jack "Jaydie" Moody and Mettie Eunice (née Ball).

Shelby, or Jo as most people called her, grew up in Arkansas and Chicago. She grew up on a farm with her mom and dad, four sisters and a brother. She loved to talk about how her brother made her a little wagon and one of the family goats would cart her around, to the envy of the other children. When the family moved to Chicago, she took a position working for Chicago Lock Company where she stayed for many years, and where she met her loving husband. Over the years she worked at Medinah Christian School and The Gun Doctor, and ultimately, Jo believed that being a mother and grandmother was the most important work she did.

In her free time Jo enjoyed winning at Farkle and Spades. She was a great card-player. She loved connecting with her friends and family, and arguing with her husband, son-in law, and her nephew, Robby. She loved feeding the hummingbirds, ducks, and rabbits in the yard, chasing the geese out of the yard, and spending time making cookies, Gingerbread Houses, and coloring Easter Eggs with her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Revive Church in Franklin Park, and was part of their loving family. Jo would spend hours in conversation with them, bringing peace and comfort to those in need.

Jo will be remembered by her friends and family for the way that she brought joy, laughter and comfort to everyone she met. Many people affectionately called her "Mama Jo or Grandma Jo". She will be remembered for her quick wit and her fearlessness. She was a force to be reckoned with, but always moved with grace. Jo was endlessly forgiving; and a loving, Godfearing woman.

Jo leaves behind; her loving husband of 52 years Robert "Bob" Kriskovich, who she married on April 21, 1973 in a small church in Paris, Tennessee; her adored children Stephanie Harris and Stephen Kriskovich; her darling grandchildren Hailey and Brooklyn. Jo also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and close friends.

Jo was preceded in passing by her parents, Jaydie and Mettie Moody, her sisters Francis, Betty, Bobby, and Doris, and her brother Ray.

The Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Revive Church, 10040 Grand Avenue, Franklin Park, IL 60131. Interment will take place privately.

Arrangements entrusted to Hultgren Funeral Home, 630-355-0213.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Crossroads Kids Club in Jo's memory would be appreciated.
