Shelby J. Scott, 73, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa. Shelby was born on May 21, 1948, at Rock Island, Illinois to Charles Benjamen and Helen Elizabeth (Damon) Logan.
She married Rex Scott, they lived in Chariton, Iowa raising her sons, David and Eugene. On September 16, 1988, Rex lost his battle with lung cancer. Several years later, Shelby met Ed Larson, they have been life long partners for 30 years. Shelby and Ed worked for a private owned company, packaging turkeys and other produce goods to be shipped all over the states.
Ronald Chiles, Shelby's grandson moved to Chariton, Iowa. Ronald and his family tried to find Shelby to reconnect and have a family relationship with her. Two years later he found out that she lived down the street. He wanted to help Ed and Shelby as her health was declining. So they move in with Ronald and his wife so they could help take care of her. Shelby later declined to where her family needed to put her in Chariton Specialty Care for rehab.
Shelby was survived by her life partner Ed Larson, her grandson, Ronald (Patty) Chiles, her sister Bonnie Richards, her 6 children, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, niece Rita Rains. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Benjamen and Helen Elizabeth (Damon) Logan, and her husband, Rex Scott Jr. On line condolences may be left at www.fieldingfuneralhome.com.
