Shelia Gail Garton, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away in Dickson, Tennessee on October 10, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on December 4, 1955, Shelia spent her life surrounded by the natural beauty of her beloved backroads and cherished the simple joys that life has to offer.
Preceded in death by her parents Delmer and Kathleen Garton and her three brothers Elmer Carl Garton, Ralph Garton and Howard Garton.
Shelia is survived by her eight children Ronda (Mark) Fleet, Amelia (Steven) Rickenbaugh, Teresa (Kevin) Etheridge, John (Misty) Etheridge, Mandy (Carlos) Barbosa, Christopher Etheridge, Edith Trotter, Thomas Herrell; grandchildren Kristian Orr Escue, Summer Orr, Nikki Rickenbaugh, Makenzie Herrell, Kailey Herrell, Dylan Herrell, Emma Craft, Caden Trotter, Makayla Trotter, Jenna Trotter, Alissa Trotter, Tyler Etheridge, Tiffany Barbosa, Oriana Barbosa, Ana Barbosa, Robbie Womble; great grandchildren Mariah Escue, Easton Orr, Waylon Trowell, William Corbin, Enzo Trotter, Zoey Barbosa; twin sister Azelia Robinson as well as numerous friends and loved ones.
Shelia found simple pleasures in riding along the backroads, always seeking out the next beautiful view or the perfect Sonic stop. She loved dancing and listening to music, and those joyful moments were often shared with her family. Whether swinging on a swing, enjoying the sweet outdoors, or spending lazy afternoons by the creek, Shelia embraced each day.
Above all, Shelia's greatest joy came from her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and they brought her happiness. Shelia’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know her. As we reflect on her life, we remember a woman whose heart was open and generous, a soul who reminded us to appreciate every moment.
Her legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of her family, forever reminding us to dance through life and cherish the moments we share. Although the world feels a little dimmer without her, we find comfort in knowing that Shelia’s spirit will continue to inspire and bring warmth to our lives in the memories we hold dear.
