Mrs. Shellie Danice Mears Shelar, age 62 of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Novant-Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Shelar was born on June 10, 1962, in Surry County to the late Ralph and Lucille Howlett Mears. Shellie was a loving wife, mother grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving is her husband of 46 years, Clade “Junior” Shelar, daughters and sons-in-law, Chrystal Shelar Peele and husband Tim, Virginia Shelar Miles and husband Ricky, Toynia Shelar Childress and husband Larry; sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry Shelar and wife Vivian, Elijah Shelar and Stacy Davis, Andrew Shelar and wife Jadia, Jordan Shelar and Alysha Coffey; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Teddy Mears and wife Kay, Robert Mears and wife Shirley, sister-in-law, Nancy Mears, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelar was preceded in the death by two sisters, Carolyn Mears, Nancy Mears France; and two brothers, Reverend Roger Mears and Joey Mears. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Laurel Springs Baptist Church in Mount Airy with Reverend Lamont Barber and Reverend Brian Pack officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16 , 2024 at Laurel Springs Baptist Church from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
