Jack Self Shropshire

Jack Self Shropshire, Jr., resident of Laurens, passed away Friday, February 27th, 2026 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community. Born in Greensboro, NC, he was a son of the late Jack Self Shropshire Sr., and Juanita Lowe Cassell.

Jack attended Greensboro schools and North Surry High School in Mount Airy NC. He served proudly in the US Army, serving in Vietnam as a paratrooper, and later in the South Carolina National Guard. Jack retired from Eaton, Cutler Hammer, and previously was employed with Life of Georgia, United Life, Hess , Lowes and Pepsi. He enjoyed the years spent playing drums and singing with the Carolina Drifters.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters Jennifer Shropshire (John Eric Frank) of Greenwood, and Kerri Sheppard (Drake) of Greenville; grandchildren Caleb Shropshire (Kayla), Alexis Shropshire, Preston Shropshire, Zack Lake, Alyssa Goldman, Olivia Watson, Abigail Watson and Kinsley Watson; great grandchildren Kayden, Kameron, Isabella, Declan, Brynlee, Freya and RJ; sister Judy Smith (Ronnie) of Greensboro, NC, and a brother, Rick Shropshire (Brenda) of Myrtle Beach; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Bill and Ron Shropshire.

Memorial Services will be held at Wednesday at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Blyth Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00AM until the time of service.
