Jean Botts Corley

1928 - 2026

Jean Botts Corley, resident of Greenwood, widow of Owen Crumley "O.C." Corley, died Friday February 27, 2026 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of Oscar A. and Pauline Langley Botts. A 1945 graduate of Greenwood High School, and 1949 graduate of Lander College, Jean married her late husband Owen C. Corley in 1948. Together they opened O. C. Corley Grocery in Greenwood in 1952 and owned and operated the store for over 45 years.

A faithful member of Tranquil United Methodist Church, Mrs. Corley was also a member of the Brockwell-Clarke and Stillwell Sunday School Classes and formerly taught the kindergarten class and MYF of the church. She was also a member, and former treasurer of the Pauline Botts Ladies Circle and member of the Bobbie Wiley Bible Study. She very much enjoyed time spent playing games with friends, which included Bingo and Bunko and Mexican train.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sandra Davenport and Susan Davenport and husband, Harold, all of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Jason Corley Davenport(Katie), Corley Davenport Fox(Michael), Brad Davenport(Angie), Ginger Davenport Coster(Matt) along with eight great-grandchildren, Luke Coster, Brooke Coster, Olivia Coster, Landon Davenport , Owen Davenport, Jack Davenport, Stella Ray Fox, and Rhett Corley Fox. Mrs. Corley was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dennis Ray Davenport.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00PM, Monday at Tranquil United Methodist Church with Rev. John Bolin, and Dr. Bill Harris and Dr. Chuck Moates officiating. Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Harold Davenport, Jason Davenport, Brad Davenport, Michael Fox, Matt Coster, and Tommy Davis.

Honorary escort will be members of the Brockwell-Clarke and the Stillwell Sunday School Classes along with Norman and Sandra Reese, Bill McCabe, Dennis and Kim Mason, Michael Hammett, Carl Clegg, Peggy Echols, Pat Shaw, Linda Waits, Susan Davis and Jane Block.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the church from 1:00PM until the time of service on Monday.
