Shellie Rae Slocum, 52, of Boyce, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Born on July 16, 1972, in Pineville to Brenda Ann Winstead and the late Richard Douglas Stephens Sr., Shellie's life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby "Shane" Slocum Jr.; her father, Richard Douglas Stephens Sr.; her grandfathers, Buvens Michel and Jesse Stephens; her grandmother, Shirley Stephens; and her cherished nephew, Liam Ledoux.
Shellie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and "Mimi" to her precious "g babies." She was the heart of her family-steadfast, loving, and always present. Her joy came from spending time with those she loved, especially her grandchildren, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Savannah "Nikkie" Martinez (Robert); her son, Dustin Slocum (Paige); her mother, Brenda Winstead; and her grandmother, Clara Michel. She also leaves behind three brothers, Ricky Stephens (Edina), Chris Stephens, and Randy Winstead; one sister, Sierra Winstead; and her six beloved grandchildren: Hailey, Lucas, Cason, Caleb, Kendal, and Evan.
Shellie was a true friend to everyone she met. Her big heart, quick wit, and feisty spirit made her unforgettable. She was always there when you needed her-offering support, laughter, and love, no matter the circumstances. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter contagious, and her love a guiding force.
Her faith in God was the foundation of her life. A devoted Christian, Shellie spent many years working at Radio Maria, where she deepened her relationship with the Lord under the mentorship of Father Duane Stenzel. Her life was a reflection of her faith-full of grace, compassion, and strength.
Shellie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening, flower arranging, nature photography-especially sunsets-fishing, cooking for her family, and spending meaningful time with loved ones. She had a gift for making every moment special. Shellie Rae Slocum was a light in the lives of all who knew her. Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit lives on in every heart she touched. In honor of her memory, the family encourages all who knew and loved Shellie to carry her spirit forward by living each day with compassion, strength, and love-just as she did.
