Mr. Larry Truman Winchell was born July 4, 1951, to Helen Steinberg and Morris Winchell in Madison County, Illinois. Larry entered eternal rest on September 9, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, brother, and pawpaw. He worked as an EMS and hunting guide in his early years before moving to Louisiana and becoming a crane operator at J.W. McDonald for 40 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to tell stories to anyone willing to listen. His greatest joy was being a dad and a pawpaw.

He is survived by his three children, Tommy Colston of Zachary, LA, Krystal Long (Dusty) of Sieper, LA, and Brittany Melancon (David) of Boyce, LA; three brothers, Steve Winchell of Pleasant Hill, IL, Merlyn Winchell (Margo) of Pleasant Hill, IL, and Dwayne Winchell (Anita) of Glen Carbon, IL; ten grandchildren, Eric, Shelby, Chelsea, and Hunter Colston, Kiah, Kaylee, and Baylee Long, and Olivia, Peyton, and Isabella Melancon; and numerous great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Gayle Winchell; mother, Helen Winchell; brother, Ernie Winchell; and granddaughter, Harlyn Colston.

A graveside service for Larry will be held at a date to be announced.
