Edward Ortego Johnson, 67, of Colfax, Louisiana, passed away on August 31, 2025, in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was born on February 25, 1958, in Sumter, South Carolina, to the late John Ortego and Louise Johnson Barkley.

Edward proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning his career as a heavy equipment operator. A true outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting and fishing and was known for his love of NASCAR. He was a dedicated Dale Earnhardt fan, rarely missing a race.

Above all, Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family and friends will remember his love, loyalty, and strength, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father John Ortego and his step father William Barkley . His loving grandfather John Johnson and grandmother Agnes Johnson and father-in- law John H. Davidson and mother-in-law Violet Summers Davidson and brother-in-law Donald Rice.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Lois Davidson Johnson of Colfax, Louisiana; daughters Jeannie Lands (Sam) of Kingston, Tennessee, Heather Christmas (Calvin) of Sumter, South Carolina, and Sara Murrell of Pineville, Louisiana; one brother, Robert Ortego of Lake Charles, Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Also his loving mother Louise Johnson Barkley and his two best Friends Wayne Pipkin and like a son friend Anthony Mcalways . Also so his wives sisters Violet Rice (Dewey)of Walseka, Georgia, Kathy (Linz) of North Carolina Belinda Sizemore) (Logan) of Ohio

And 8 nieces and nephews.

Edward's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, and his memory will be cherished forever.

As we Celebrate his live in a couple months from now at the Christ-way Church in Bentley Louisiana.

Sending praises to our Lord Jesus as he makes his journey to his everlasting home in Heaven. Knowing we will see him again when our time comes what a glorious and joyful day that will be . When we all get to Heaven. Rejoice and praise the Lord for his soul. Amen
