Shelly was born to Donald and Jerene (Oberle) Clements on January 19, 1955. She grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1973.
She married Robert Nelson in 1973 and they had two children, Sofi and Dustin. They later divorced.
Shelly worked for 20 years with family and friends as a cashier and in customer service at Dicks Red Owl / Doug's Superfair Foods in Menomonie. Shelly cherished spending time with her family. She never missed a family get together and was the life of the party. Shelly always told her children and grandchildren "I love you with all my heart and soul." That love was truly felt and will never be forgotten.
Shelly is survived by her children Sofi (Brad) Doane and Dustin Hotujec; granddaughters Hannah, Emily and Kate Doane; grandson Boone Hotujec. She is further survived by siblings Steve (Yvonne) Clements, Doug (Sherry) Clements, Jenelle Feil, and Cory (Janet) Clements; partner Peter Newhall and former husband Robert Nelson, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Shelly was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Jerene Clements and daughter-in-law Staci Hotujec.
The family will hold a celebration of life for Shelly in the spring. Burial will be at Mamre Cemetery in Menomonie, WI. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI is handling arrangements.

She was my neighbor. I was a nanny for some people and the kids called her catlady cause of it. It was always a "hi" or a wave as I went by her place and for a year it was that way..then I moved. She was still my neighbor, but, she was 6 blocks further away. 6 years later, we started hanging out. She was a ray of sunshine in my life and her smile was infectious beyond belief. She started going places with me and then started coming to where I live nearly everyday. She was afraid she wouldn't be liked by people where I live, but, they absolutely loved her. We miss her greatly and I cry just thinking about her. My only regret? Not hanging out with her sooner. R.I.P. Shelly. You will always be Tony's halfpint.
