Shelly Eckert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pippin Funeral Home - Camden Wyoming on Sep. 6, 2024.
Shelly Ann Eckert, 59, of Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on September 4, 2024, after her courageous 12-year battle against cancer. Born and raised in Dover, Shelly graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1982.
She retired from Aetna after 20 years, where she was known for her unwavering commitment and kindness. Shelly found the love of her life, John Eckert in 2001. They were together for 23 years and would have been married for 9 years in December.
Shelly found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished sunny days, whether at the beach or relaxing by her pool. Her culinary skills were exceptional, and she had a unique talent for making her home a warm and inviting haven. Shelly's love for her dogs were boundless, and she adored spending time with her daughters, Kira and Ashley, and her nieces, Lucy and Olivia. A sweet tooth led her to enjoy countless walks along the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach, savoring both the sights and treats of the shore. Shelly was also an avid Baltimore Raven's fan who had a dedicated "she-cave" with lots of memorabilia. Shelly's warmth, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Shelly is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Moore Vincent and her father-in-law, Henry John Eckert, Sr. She is survived by her husband, John Eckert, father, John Vincent, mother-in-law Edwina Eckert, brother, Shawn Vincent, brother's-in-law, Randy Eckert and Jerry Eckert, sister-in-law Pam Parker (Doug), daughters, Ashley Stapleford and Kira Eckert; her nieces, Lucy Vincent, Olivia Vincent, Kasey Morris (Allan) and Kayla Haney along with her beloved dogs, Jada, Angel and Izzy.
A celebration of Shelly's life will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE with visitation being held from 2-4 p.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Harvest Hustle 5K in Shelly's honor, a charitable event established in 2005 for her mother. All proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
